Weddings

Congratulations on your engagement! If you are considering getting married in church, please contact the pastor for an informal discussion.

As a legal requirement, to get married in this church, one or both of you must either live within the London Borough of Waltham Forest, or attend this church as your place of worship.

By choosing to be married in church, you are saying that Jesus Christ and His church will have an on-going place in your marriage and continuing lives.  The church is much more than a building; it is a group of people who desire to follow Jesus Christ, and find ways to express God’s love in their day to day lives.  Support networks are helpful, particularly at times of new beginnings.  The church seeks to be the family of God, reaching out to each other in prayer and love, sharing the joys and sorrows as we journey together in faith and life.  Our prayer for you is that our church will not only be part of your special day, your wedding, but that throughout your married life, you will come to know and value the privilege of being part of a caring community.

Registering your marriage

Before you can get married, you must give notice in person at the registry office.  Click here for more information about how to do this.  We are unable to proceed with any marriage ceremony without the relevant authorisation issued by the registrar once you have given notice. We will support you with this process - do not give notice until you have received written confirmation from the church that your wedding can take place here.

We are registered as a place of worship which is legally allowed to carry out marriage services within the Christian tradition.  We have our own registrars for our building to ensure the legality of your wedding and complete all necessary paperwork.  This is included as standard in our fees, you do not need to arrange for a registrar.

Marriage preparation

Should you decide to get married here, we feel a sense of responsibility not just to make sure your wedding goes smoothly, but also to do all we can to support you in your marriage.  We therefore ask all couples preparing for marriage to attend a series of marriage preparation sessions with the pastor.  Usually, this consists of one session with each person individually, followed by 6 sessions together.
